So which of you is the spy and which is the the citizen? Or perhaps you are both of the same alignment?

I was reading the other team's forum as well and I think this is a great question: So: If you were a Spy, who on our team would you most likely target for the first Exile and why? As for my answer, it differs. Assuming that Jocelyn is not a spy, I would point suspicion upon her. Her statement during the live chat is under great suspicion, so if she isn't a spy, I would use it against her. If she was a spy with me, I would rub it off as a joke, and probably not have pointed it out at all. I would probably then start suspicions going about a Paris and Jaya connection (assuming they were citizens) since there is already talk of that currently. I'd like to hear how everyone else responds too.

Just poking my head in to say hello, and ask a question or two.
Rey, saying what you would do if you were a Spy is all well and good, but isn't it WIFOM? Considering that if you were a Spy, you wouldn't do what you say you would do as a Spy (or you would, to double bluff; you see where I'm going with this?), what do you hope to find out by asking said question?

Rey would like to appear as active as possible. Whether it's for personal reasons or alignment reasons, I'm uncertain.

Ariel, that is exactly what I expect. I expect the spies to say what they would do, but I completely realize that they will obviously not do so. I just want to hear what people think of other people, and asking this question will help me do so.
Jenya would like to appear as antagonistic as possible. Whether this is her personality or not is still going through analysis.

Except that saying that "they will obviously not do what they say they would do" could result in the Spies doing exactly what they said they would do, just for the sake of that argument.
Do you see where I'm going with this?

Hey guys, feeling like I haven't contributed much yet, so I thought I'd write out what the bottom team did, my thoughts on all of you. I know Rey was thinking about doing that, and hell he might have by the time I'm done. . I'm going to say IS A SPY, COULD BE A SPY, WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED A SPY (shortened to WBS), and MOST LIKELY A CITIZEN, IS A CITIZEN for everyone, but I have no certainties so noone is getting either of those extremes yet. Paris- I'm putting Paris in my COULD BE SPY category. I enjoy speaking with him. He's smart, and he's one of the people who don't just stop talking to you mid conversation. That's important to me. But from the group chat last night there was a moment where my first instinct is "One of Jenya and Paris is a Spy". Later I started to question myself and say "they could just both be concerned citizens, or they could be two spies misleading us." Paris is smart, and I have no doubt that if he's a spy he could be an effective one. He gives me good vibes, but I don't totally trust him. Almathea - Sweet girl, I like her. She's one of those players that you just can't help but trust at first, she just gives off that kind of vibe. HOWEVER. I'm for sure putting in at least WBS a spy because she strikes me as smarter than she puts on. She was an insanely effective scum in one of the prestart of game mafia games. Like... epically so. Slightly frightening. Her and Mei Yun. Right now, I'm not ready to elevate her to Could Be because of... just pure instinct which is all I have to run on right now. But she could very well go there in the near future. Gabrielle- Right now, leaning towards MOST LIKELY A CITIZEN based on limited interactions. She seems to just be genuinely trying to get into a game she was late for. Now, that could be a good spy tactic, so understand that she's like just outside WBS and I'm only not putting her there because 1. Instinct again 2. I don't want to put everyone on the team in WBS Anyway. One thing that frustrates me about her is her habit of not responding you mid conversation, but almost everyone does that. Maybe I'm just used to more talkative situations. Anyway. I haven't gotten a great read on her yet, but I'm thinking cit Jocelyn - COULD BE A SPY I'm putting her up this high only because she's not been around to defend herself on the mysterious comment at last night's chat. The moment she does so, she'll probably go down. I've had limited interactions with her and it's possible she's gone for good. Dunno. I remember on the opening day's chatting I got weird feelings from her, so maybe we're spot on on her mysterious comment being spyish. Rey - MOST LIKELY A CITIZEN He's our Robert I'd say. Only I actually find Robert annoying while I have no problem with Rey's personalty, I seem to be alone on that boat O, sorry Robert... Anyway. I'm pretty certain Rey's a citizen for the same reason I'm pretty certain Robert is. Because he's putting himself out there as a leader of of his team, and be DAMNED if anyone doesn't like it! That doesn't seem spyish to me. Tiberius- This guy is so awesome! Look at his pink shirt! That shirt is so awesome I'm breaking my rule and being entirely certain, IS A CITIZENPete - COULD BE A SPY I feel like me and Pete have a good report, but sometimes he gives me... weird feelings. I can't explain why. I don't know what they are. One thing that stood out to me though was when I was reading the pregame stuff Robert posted. Robert mentioned us no knowing our alignments yet, Pete's reaction sort of weirded me out. Just something I thought I'd point out. Jason: Getting huge citizen vibes from Jason. So MOST LIKELY A CITIZEN. A spy wouldn't put himself out there with a schtick I think. And he's been doing pretty well at being protown IMO. I have little to say elsewise though, we haven't talked too much. Jenya- I'm saying this right off the bat... she's my top suspect. COULD BE A SPYLet me explain. There's a fine line between creating DISCUSSION and creating DISSENSION. I feel like so far is this game Jenya's MO has been creating DISSENSION. That, my friends, from my perspective is the spy-yest thing a spy could spy... do. A spy could do. Her little "discussion" with Paris seemed to entirely be about causing a FIGHT rather than a chat, and also in my opinion distracted us from more important things. Saying all that may be putting a bit much out there... but I did it... Ellis and Jaya are in the same WBS boat because I havn't interacted much with them, but they strike me as being a bit lurky... That's all I got

Was going to do one of these and never really had the time, so I might as well. Id first like to respond to what Tib said about me though, my reaction was purely based on Roberts arrogance and I am not one to deal with that level, I realise its a joke but, its like urgh. Nothing more really to say to that.
So then, I will do much like Tib, but do a grading system 1 to 10 with 10 being most likely to be a spy etc.
Paris - (3) - Paris, in my opinion is our teams greatest asset, as Tib compared Rey to Robert, I wouldnt....I would have compared Paris to him. I believe the actions and way he interacted with everyone in the chat and getting the ball rolling is what we need. I obviously cannot rule him out, but, I think he is someone to be looked at, but not in a bad way.
Jason - (4) - Jason, I havent really interacted much with and most of my discussion with him is in group chats, he seems to be a citizen trying to analysis what is going on and contributing where needed, like Paris I wouldnt begin to put him at citizen status yet but, he seems alright.
Rey - (5) - I feel that Rey has allowed himself to be brought to the main attention of the group by his actions. This for me personally means nothing, you can be as loud as you like, it wont clear you. It seems that there are many things going for Rey and then he makes a comment, or something happens and it just brings you back down to earth thinking....what? Why did they just happen.
Gabriella - (?) - Unfortunately I havent spoken much to Gab, and her lesser activity in the beginning does nothing to clear her, anyone that feels this is the case is quite niave...Saying that, based on the few chats weve had, she seems nice enough.
Jenya - (5.5) - I wasnt the group chat, and so I dont know the tone of the room at the time, but after Paris said something about Jenya, I noticed that she was trying to promote herself as active, but then immediately jumped into deflecting what was said at her to others. I cant tell if maybe that was what the momentum of the room was, or if it was a ploy she was using.
Ellis - (7) - Ellis is my main suspect. Now this I wont use my memory for, a few things happened which I feel go completly against any normal citizen action, despite only glancing over, I still made notes on a few things.... The idea of 'lets all be spies' and 'lets have a swap' [6:42pm] was originally meant in jest I assume, but the joke was very out of place and jarring, especially when out of the blue he returns to it later on and making a stamp 'i dont mind taking one for the team' [6:58pm] Also, Ellis made a point of defending people, to the point both had to tell them to stop, however what people dont realise is that if you look at the general mood at the time in each case, it was agreed that when he was defending rey, most people didnt seem to think it was him. Defending a person most people already dont suspect? [7:09 and 7:10 pm]
Tiberius - (4) - Tiberius is so far down because of one thing, the relationship he seems to have with Rey is so profound and it seems he genuinely wanted to seek out and find someone else that was certainly not a spy, and he found Rey. That for me is not that suspicious. However, I would like to put this down for furture referance, after re-reading the conversations 'pre-announcement' he acted one way, and yes, he acted exactly the same afterwards, but to me, it seemed forced, like he was trying to act the same way, but what exactly that means, I dont know.
Almathea - (6) - Almathea seems to be the type that is very confusing, both intelligent and ditzy I cannot get a read on her. She doesnt want to be read, which suggest to me, either she is hiding something, or that is the way she has chosen to play the game.
Jaya - (4) - Jaya and my conversations last all but 10 seconds, I dont know what it is but me and her dont click. I feel if she was a spy trying to manipulate me, should would make much more of an effort to get me on her side or whatever, and she has not, so...yeah. I'm not suspicious.
Jocelyn - (7) - The thing about Jocelyn was nothing to do with the comment, and more just the way she acted and has yet still not come online, just because she doesnt defend herself doesnt mean she shouldnt have to, just because others said something about it, doesnt mean that she need not.

Right off the bat - Jaya - seems to be good on the one or two burg posts I saw, but that was major lurking in that chat last night! She repsonded straight away to someone saying "Jaya?" despite being in the chat for 10 minutes. Leaning spy. Paris - right now this round I would not vote for him - he was being really pro-active town! I liked his style of asking questions; discussing whether Jenya's response was "fluff". Leaning citizen for now. Next up - Tibz - wouldn't vote this round; he also is pro-active, has a lot of opinions, putting trust in him for now. Ellis - He had an idea to ask Sam could we trade one of our actives for an inactive; There is nothing wrong with this; it is throwing ideas out there But think about other possibilities - could be a spy plan in the making? Or could have been? I'm going to say on the fence leaning citizen for Ellis based on this idea alone as it could be construed as spyish. Rey was right to say it was a citizen idea! However, apart from this we all saw his lurking on day 1 live chat (the pizza) he proclaimed that nobody noticed him! Lurking tendencies swing him back on the fence. Pete - the thing is; in the mini game he seemed quite good at being mafia even through fighting with Ariel. hes too loud to be UTR but too quiet to be centre of attention; but seems to have opinions when i speak to him; seems well balanced with his opinions, im going to go ahead and say leaning citizen but in typing this ive come to realise i need to exlpore him further Jason - he seems funny. Not taking character playing too seriously. But game wise; i have to ask him more; he seems to be quite fence sittery as Tibz said we haven't talked to much but doesn't he always seem to be "there"? Active lurkery? Rey - I think rey just takes getting used to; he seems to be CONSTANTLY on the go for spies; seems very pro-active, but a bit abrasive. I'm going to lean citizen for this round, at the moment. He is very over defensive though; but what i saw in chat he was really questioning Jenya's behaviour hard which compensates for his (albeit) funny spout of being over defensive in response to being told he was overdefensive! Jenya - Right, I also though Ellis' idea was spyish at first; and I also thought Jenya was sweet and calm! Last night in the chat Paris was asking us what we thought "lurking" was using a response from Jenya - Jenya was right to defend herself there; but just talking to Ed and Tibz about this, when I started to look back on the chat it was kind of odd? Like I mean odd as in; like, she used her example of think Ellis' idea was scummy right off the mark as if she was trying to PROVE herself really desperately. Then when pointed out that Paris was using her response as a general example; the team chat discussion turned to a fight with her fuelling the fire! My opinion is this overdefensive, trying to prove herself leans her to spy side. Jocelyn - she was active in the (so called) pre-game/day 0/pre live chat; disappeared since. I need to hear more; shes a frustrating inactive - leaving us on a cliff hanger. I normally dont vote off inactives; but spies is different - a lot more time invested in by active players; and this circumstance is different - 3 have to go round 1 (or 2?) Going to use her as my safety vote as of right now (in the probably likely event I miss loads of the game as my life sucks right now!) Jenya and everyone else are in main chat; need to read whats going (gonna place my vote now!) Gabz - Sam said some players would be on the next day; she was catching up; couldnt say much to me in our chat; willing to forgo an opinion on her until i speak to her next (hopefully before deadline).

You're noticing the same thing I did with Jenya Pete.
Interesting points about Ellis Pete, I've for sure taken notice.
Pete, I think the thing you noticed about me being "forced" was actually me getting comfortable in this new environment and coming out of my shell. Besides, wouldn't a change of behavior actually indicate me "finding out" I was a spy and thus not apply to this game.
An I idea I had about Joc. This may be getting a little too... paranoid isn't the right word, but maybe after saying that thing in chat she thought she had given herself away and paniced and left the game for awhile, hoping it would die down? Just an idea, seems wrong to me but thought I'd throw it out anyway.

I have to disagree on the point that Jenya creates "disennsion".
I dont think she was not really discussing anything - she had fair points - Rey is abrasive and Ellis' idea is spyish and spy advantageous. Please someone elaborate on more disension from her!
Her fight did really skew the tone of the team chat - and was over defensive. BUT i disagree that her response to Paris was fluff.

OK, here's my ideas so far.
I said in the chat that without more solid info on who is a spy, I'd be considering who I could work with best to find the spies. So based on that, I won't vote for Paris, Jenya, Tiberius and Rey. It's either because I have an innocent read or because I think they could contribute enough if they are citizens that it's not worth taking the risk of voting them out.
Pete I've barely spoken to one on one, so I'm a bit surprised at his reaction to my remarks in chat. Pete, maybe I don't say too much, but when I do I try to make a point of whatever I'm saying. I'm not too keen on his statement that Jocelyn needs to "defend" herself, because as far as I can see she's got nothing to defend herself about. Other than that I don't have a read either way.
Jaya is tough to read. I feel like we've been in a few chatrooms together but never really talked. She's either a citizen who's staying quiet for survival, or a fairly quiet spy. I don't know why she's brought up Rey's point about Jocelyn's statement "I knew it" in the opening chat. It looks like she could be using his idea to pick on an easy target. I don't feel as though I have a read on her yet.
Gabriele, I don't get the naive / innocent vibe but then I haven't spoken to her much, and I don't like that she also went with the Jocelyn suspicions. I think it's unlikely that both Gabriele and Jaya are spies, they seem similar in playstyle if not in personality and I don't think two spies would be.
Jocelyn I have no read on at all because I've never seen her online. If she's a spy, a few other people who've been pushing her exile probably aren't. I don't agree that her statement on the opening night was suspicious.
Jason and Almathea are both pleasant to talk to and hard to get a read on. Whether or not that's deliberate I can't tell yet. I'm not ruling either of them out. Personality wise I'd like them to stay, but gameplay wise I don't know.
That's a lot of people I could vote for. I'm not going to make up my mind yet, we still have two days. I'm least suspicious of the people who seem genuinely confused. I also agree with Pete that you can't be more than 7/10ths sure of anyone at this point.

Post By Post Analysis: Some notable points are that all the members of our team are active. I am very happy to be in this team. I like how everyone voices their opinions, and how open (mostly) everyone is. Paris I am currently unsure about Paris' alignment. He seems to spark discussion, which is an awesome quality. He also has an effective use of questions, which I think benefits the citizens rather than the spies. Of course he could always be asking the questions in order to put the spotlight on certain players. He would not be an exile choice of mine, but i'm not saying he is a citizen in my mind as of yet. That is from before the live chat. Seems like he genuinely didn't know that spies knew their roles, what does everyone else think?
Almathea She seems to be playing it safe which matches how she played as mafia when I modded a game for the players. I am unsure of her alignment as of now, but i'm leaning to spy. Although I liked her the first time i talked to her, she seems to be distancing herself from me now that people are voicing concerns about me. She needs to take a stance of her own in this game, or else i'm going to have to assume she is just following people in order to remain out of the spotlight for a while.
Gabriela The most neutral player we have in our team; it is noted that she seemingly tried to post her views as little as possible in the team conversation we had. My one-on-one conversations with her haven't been that enlightening either.
Jocelyn Whether she made a minor slip or an honest statement during the live chat, I don't know. Right now she is slightly leaning towards scum, but she has yet to properly explain her remark. I give her the benefit of the doubt of course, but she needs to explain herself, not let others do so. (Although I don't think she has been online since the first day)
Rey This player is definitely a citizen. No need to explain. He acts like everyone's little brother. Annoying at times, helpful at others times. Spies love making up shitty arguments in order to point suspicion on him, but i think that he can hold his own against those nasty scum.
Tiberius Probably the person I trust the most out of our team. He seems to genuinely helpful and sincere. He also trusts me, which makes me a little relieved considering a lot of people are voicing concerns about me. I'm getting a good vibe from him, but i'd rather not let down my guard this early in the game just in case. If he turns out to be scum, then he played an excellent game strategy wise.
Pete He gave me a good vibe the first time i spoke to him. I'm leaning citizen, although recent events have got me thinking.
Jason I've had good chats with him. I'm used to him staying out of the main discussion, while others may chastise him for it. Not sure of his alignment, but i'd like him to be citizen. It is noted that he relies on his gut.
Jenya She seems to be cautious, which is normally a good aspect. I don't like how she seems to suspect me, but I guess it's alright. She leans more to citizen to me. Not sure how to explain this, just think of it as a vibe I get from her.
Ellis He has a lot of great thoughts, and seems to me to be actively scum hunting. He leans citizen in my opinion.
Jaya Possibly some connection between her and Paris, as Jenya mentioned. Although if one flips spy it isn't 100% the other one, it is something to remember later on in the game. As for my own personal read on her, I am unsure. She seemed to lurk during our team chat, and when commented upon she popped back into chat.
Things may change over time, but that is how I view all the players as of now!

Something I forgot about Gabirel.
She's very serious. People will notice that I've very... I joke alot. And I've noticed she doesn't react to that well. Not really an important point, but something that I forgot to put in my writeup.
Rey. Your chat excerpt from Paris is a good catch. I think it helps be believe Paris is a citizen. Can you specify on the "recent events" about Pete? When you mention that Jason plays with his gut, what does that tell you?
Ellis your thoughts were interesting too I just have no question on them

Well, guys, I'm not going to copy everyone else and give a player by player analysis because it's just not my style, and my analysis probably wouldn't be that good anyway...
Right now the people on our team that are extra suspicious are (in alphabetical order) Alma, Jenya, Jocelyn, Paris.
The people I think are least suspicious are (in alphabetical order): Tiberius, Rey (but these two could be spies together... I just don't think so right now)
Everyone else to me is somewhere in the middle... Suspicious but not suspicious enough to consider voting for... Unless new evidence pops up.
I have reasons for all of my suspicions but if you want to hear them please talk to me on your own... I think forums are less effective for getting to know each other than real chat is... And even though I'm sure that nobody really wants to talk to me... That's what it takes.

Spies
Jaya - Simply based on me not realizing she's ...alive for some reason. Out of everyone on our team, I forget Jaya exists. She doesn't seem to be a prominent voice from when I am in a chatroom but again, it may be because I enter during a time Jaya had already talked much. She's what I define as lurker.
Suspicious Of (Leaning Spies)
Pete - I enjoy talking to Pete but one of the initial things he did to catch me off guard was his fear of me telling Alma that he suspected her.
4:11:18 PM Paris: what's your take on people like allie and gabriela 4:12:08 PM spies6pete: well, not so much every line, but, there are some parts i remember and, i will certainly look at our teams contributions 4:12:19 PM spies6pete: ill have to compare notes with tib 4:12:21 PM spies6pete: anyways 4:12:24 PM spies6pete: um, allie? 4:12:34 PM Paris: alma something 4:12:44 PM spies6pete: ooo, al-mafia 4:12:48 PM Paris: she told us to refer to her as Ally lol 4:12:50 PM Paris: rofl 4:13:03 PM spies6pete: dont u dare tell her i said that 4:13:13 PM Paris: lol why would you be afraid if i did? 4:13:21 PM Paris: shouldn't matter if you think she's mafia 4:13:22 PM spies6pete: anyways, um....she seemed quite ditzy at the pre-game 4:13:33 PM spies6pete: 4:13:52 PM spies6pete: so, i will be looking at her, because if memory serves she changed quite a bit after the announcement 4:14:05 PM spies6pete: but, dont trust my memory please 4:14:18 PM Paris: yaeh i havent been able ot talk ot her as of yet 4:14:27 PM Paris: so im hoping to know more about her when i do get a chance to see her
Obviously Pete did post his suspicions about her earlier but still it was a bit weird after that initial take.
Jenya - During the exchange between Jenya and I, she took a lot of heat and didn't handle it all too well. She fumbled and instead interrogated back as a form of self-defense. She didn't ask really concrete questions to really help her stance but she did indeed point out a misslip I made which I give her props for. She really seemed to panic though when put in the light so it just makes wary of her alignment.
Probably Not (Leaning Citizen)
Rey - I again fight with the argument that this early on, I don't believe spies are overly annoying to get on peoples bad side as votes and earning people's trust is crucial. Rey's persona rub people the wrong way. People have different impressions of him. For me, Rey's style seems "dumb" but he is actually smart. He reads and points things out.
Tiberius - Just an generally overall active player who speaks in conversations and addresses issues and voices his opinion. He gives and asks questions whenever need be. Seem pro-town to me.
Jocelyn - I pin her as the first round scapegoat. People jump on the first misslip of the game "her comment" and let her take the wrath of it. She hasn't been here to defend herself at all and she seems like an easy target. Perhaps too easy. I refuse to jump on any bandwagon for her unless she screws up in her defense. I make slipups, others make slipups, its natural to do so in the beginning.
Citizen
Gabriela - Talked to her. Seemed genuine. Really doesn't strike me as anything.
No Read
Jason - Just humor as a spy tactic was the only thing I ever addressed. His answers to my critiques in chat were well put but no feelings overall
Ellis - No read. Haven't interacted with much.

paris - leaning citizen the only real case against him that im aware of is the whole think with jaya when he got some heat for asking about other possible inactives but not her. i see that as a bit of a stretch. if jaya turns out to by a spy ill reconsider. seems to have a good head on his shoulder, and will most likely be an asset to whatever his allignment is.
almathea - leaning spy seems like an absolute sweetheart, and i really do like her, and want to trust her. but something doesnt feel right here. in a somewhat short conversation i had with her she started off by saying how she didnt know who shed vote for, then immediately changed the topic to yvette. confused me a bit.
jocelyn - either way i think anyone who says her comment isnt suspicious, even if only a little, is out of their minds. that being said, after discussing it with some people there are innocent explinations so she has slid down my list. but i still want to hear it in her own words. part of my wants to vote for her just because she isnt around. it just doesnt seem fair to everyone else.
rey - leaning spy one point for him being a citizen is that he is a bit abrasive and everyone expects spies to want to be on everyones good sides. and while that makes sense, i decided to look back at past games to see if thats always the case. and it isnt. see beverly from the schism as an example. plus he asks a lot of questions but doesnt seem to answer them. manning the spotlight is a good way to stay out of it.
tiberius - leaning cit although he doesnt seem to think so, i would classify him as a leader. he has done nothing to give me any scummy vibes so far. if he is a spy hes doing great. itll take something big for me to vote for him any time soon
pete - either way i simply dont have enough information to go on right now.
jason - leaning cit tiberius said he thinks a spy wouldnt put himself out there with a schtick. again, i decided to look back at past games. see sophia from the shootout as a spy with a schtick. that being said, his schtick doesnt seem to be getting in the way of his gameplay. he doesnt seem to be using the former to cover up the latter. so right now im getting a cit feeling
jenya - either way although i was in the chat for her arguement with paris, i wasnt around to watch it unfold. looking back at it, there are some moments that left me wondering. but for the most part it all seemed like one big goofy understanding. i need to hear more from her before id feel confident moving in either direction
ellis - either way i simply dont have enough information to go on right now.
jaya - leaning spy after the whole paris/jenya thing died down, jaya said to jenya "do you want to fight with me now that paris is gone?" how exactly is that helpful? almost as if she wanted jenya to keep it going so that shed be the villan and have it distract everyone else. if anyone one of the three involved in that mess is a spy, my money is on her.

Jen has certainly moved up on my suspect list. She absolutely causes dissension as I tried to point out when I asked her pointblank if she wanted to fight with me.
It's odd that she's so defensive and that her only defense is throwing the same accusation at some one else. When Paris was asking her about lurking, she just threw it at me and accused me of lurking.
In this conversation, she says that she's voting for Mei, but when i ask Jen how she knows she's a spy, she just throws the question to Rey. When I call her out on it, she throws the accusation to Rey again.

Paris - what about me? Hmm Im thinking, coupled with something Jenya said to me last night, that people are getting a really bad impression of me. Everytime I log on i sort of burst out with everything possible (like I did it to Ed last night). I'm just really anxious of falling behind! I'm not good at staying quiet if I have to catch up like Jaya and Gabz. I can't change who I am but I can calm myself down, take deep breaths! and have normal conversation before moving on to game related issues lol (i used to have this problem in survivors; people got afraid of me as they saw me really indecisive). I do have a stance in this game? i explore a lot of avenues - just look through; i explore everything - my stance is TOO much stance! and i dont think i tyr to remain out of spotlight - i think i do pretty well in the few hours i can play! and wtf im not distancing myself from you?! on that note - rey, last night i asked you were you character playing - you said it doesn't matter; to me it DOES matter - you obviously are abrasive and are aware of it; and so there must be a purpose behind it. that worries me considering spies knew from the start - so they can use their characters for a PURPOSE from the start - and if you are rubbing people up the wrong way, then thats not a very pro town purpose is it?

Ack I totally skipped over you lol.
Alma - No read on. For me I haven't interacted with Alma much but the one exchange we did have, she simply praised me for raising questions during the chat. Again, no read.

Think about this game from the perspective of a Spy right now. A spy wants to make friends, and not make enemies. They want to find a citizen on their team to exile without getting themselves in trouble for future exiles by offending anyone. But they don't want to push too hard so they don't seem like a leader of the exile when the citizen comes up good guy. They want to ride the fence about as many other people as possible. They want to cast a little suspicion on spies in case they come up spies later, so they can say "see, I suspected them, I'm not a spy". They want to cast a little suspicion on citizens so no one becomes the dreaded "confirmed cit" that everyone trusts. I do agree with Gabriela that one or two spies might be the obnoxious type like Rey, but mostly they'll be relatively inoffensive. I also think one or two might be leadership types, but the rest will be followers. Right now, I think Jaya is the strongest candidate for Spy in our group, but I need to talk with her one on one because I'm only basing my opinion off of limited interactions. She just picked one suspect to post about, and conveniently it's the easiest one to pick right now--me. If a Spy wanted to pick one person right now to gun for, hoping they could get away with not offending anyone else, you have to admit I'd be a pretty good choice as four or five of you have mentioned finding me suspect in your posts. Jaya copies other people's arguments-- "divisive" from Tiberius's post. "defensive" from Almathea's post. And she doesn't weigh in on anyone else, which helps no one but herself. Add that to her lurky behavior at our first town chat (and in general) and she is a good candidate to keep an eye on. I got citizenish vibes off of Paris, but he made one slip-up that made me wonder about him. I don't think he's getting voted out any time soon, so I don't think casting suspicion upon him is a bad thing at all. His suspicions and observations are ok. Paris, you seem to have misinterpreted my anger at you for panic or defensiveness. When you enter a room late and call someone who's been making good observations a lurker/inactive, and then try to take credit for "making them active", it's arrogant. That's why I was ticked at you, and if you reread the chat maybe you'll understand that. I am torn on Rey. He seems paranoid that I suspect him, when I really don't suspect him more than anyone else. I'm feeling his schtick out to see if he's hiding anything behind it. I don't believe in voting out potential superstars early in the game unless they make huge spy mistakes, and I think Rey has the potential to be a strong contributor if he quits insulting everyone left and right. Never tell someone to shut up in a game of mafia, Rey. You want them all talking more, not less, unless you're a spy. Almathea seems to want us to think she is a dizzy girl, but I don't think she is. I think putting on an act is normal in this game, but I need to look past the act and see if she's really trying to catch spies in her honeypot. I'm not sure I see that yet, but I don't have a great read on her yet. I'm impressed by Ellis's attitude about keeping players who can make a difference, because I totally agree with it. I was concerned about Ellis in our group chat and I need to talk with him one on one to get a better feel. I feel the same way about Jason as I do about Gabriela right now, and I'll tell them personally how I feel. I got a decent vibe off of Pete for thinking Rey was interfering with the flow of spyhunting in a chat the other day. Pete seemed to genuinely want the right things, and seemed reasonably upset that irrationality and anger was getting in the way. But an artful spy could do that too, so I need to get to know Pete better to see if he's that crafty. Tiberius, ugh. He changed his mind on me from "strong feeling she's a cit" to "top spy suspect" in 12 hours, and that's a sign that someone's been doing either a lot of talking or a lot of thinking behind the scenes. And initially I worried that it was talking--with spy friends. Jaya is taking Tiberius's line that I am divisive, which I not only disagree with strongly, but I don't think a reasonable person would think at this point after reading my posts carefully. So I am a little concerned about Tiberius, who has angled well to be everyone's friend. I will talk with him personally as well to see if I too am put under his spell and see him as townish like everyone else seems to. Tiberius, you are wrong about me--I'm not divisive, I'm just looking for answers. Actually, at this point, I don't think divisive would even be that bad of a thing, because we need some rifts in this Burg so we can see who takes what sides, but I still don't think I've been divisive. There's still a lot of time to get to know people before Thursday, and I'd like our group to be the one that catches the first spy on the first day. I peeked at the last five games and apparently that's never happened before in this series. They've always exiled citizens on day one.

A lot of people, both town and spies, I feel would continue to play the character they are in and uphold their personalities because of CONSISTENCY. If you go away from that consistency, then people get suspicious. I think that Rey continuously being abrasive is a good thing because it shows that he is able to maintain this personality through whatever situation he is placed in. However if in the next few rounds he loses his abrasiveness, wouldn't that be a reason to worry or get suspicious of him? then again some spies players may just lose the will to continue personality altogether and lose their character.
As I scoured through Spies 5, a good example of this is Sophia. Her responses with ellipticals ..., seem to annoy a lot of people but she kept with it. However later on, when she was under a lot of heat, it kind of died off. I don't know if that indicates anything but its just this lack of consistency that can make people suspicious.
So I suggest to Rey, keep it up.

I don't know why we're talking about 'characters'... We can't help who we are. I'd love to be less of a failure than I am, but I'm helpless to change, I'm trapped like this forever.

I want to clarify my points on Ellis. In the group chat, he seemed to support no exile and to a lesser extent a player swap between groups. Both of those are spyish ideas. I agree that in general it's good to hear ideas, but I think spies are more likely to bring up spyish ideas. So Ellis, if you are a cit, be careful about that.
Also, Ellis, you said in group chat you couldn't work with me at all. Then last night you posted that I was a person you could work with. What changed your mind?

Before I head out I have a question for you, too, Ellis since you seem to be invisible online and only talking to a select few... I want to do a review of your post and please respond however you would like to, if you care at all...
Look at all of the italics... Basically you made a big post just to say "I don't really have a read on anybody". What's the point of that? And has that changed since then? I didn't really suspect anything of you until today but that, along with some of the other things going around, worry me and I don't want to consider changing my vote to you without letting you have a change to clear it all up...

Also, Ellis, you said in group chat you couldn't work with me at all. Then last night you posted that I was a person you could work with. What changed your mind? Because after I'd cooled off a bit, I realised what you were doing. As a technique for getting information from people it works pretty well. I said this in a chatroom later on. Also, to Jason and everyone who hasn't already heard this: I can't be online as often as some of you. That out of my control. It doesn't mean I'm not giving everything to this game that I can. To Jason though: earlier on today I was online talking to Jenya and Paris for three quarters of an hour. You were also online at the time. I spoke to Paris myself, Jenya spoke to me but made it clear that they were both looking to speak with me. You were online the entire time but didn't say a thing to me. If I hadn't been talking to the other two, I would have talked to you. I just didn't have time to do all three, and I didn't want three conversations going at once. My point is that if you want to talk to me and we're both online, talk to me. Don't wait for me to send you flowers and candy. Sometimes you have to make the first move. Here's part of the chat log: 12:48:58 Ellis: Three people I wanted to talk to, and you're all online. 12:49:02 Paris: Pleasure to be finally talk to 12:49:07 Paris: Who are the other two 12:49:12 Ellis: Jenya and Jason 12:49:15 Paris: Right hah And later in a chatroom: 13:34:18 Ellis: She seems pretty straight 13:34:24 Ellis: I hope she hasn't put too big a target on her back 13:35:06 Paris: She seems intelligent frm my view so I dont see anything overall weird bout her 13:35:50 Ellis: By the way, 13:35:52 Ellis: why is Jason not here? 13:36:06 Paris: *dunno* 13:36:35 Jenya: One very nice thing about this conversation 13:36:40 Jenya: I don't feel steered to a vote. 13:36:49 Paris: well i mean, sorta 13:36:55 Jenya: And I don't think you two could possibly be chatting in a spy channel at the same time.
