Setup
33 different players
7 Spies: Samantha, Angus, Donnie, Beatrix, Subhi, Cy, Sophia
2 Spy Roles:
- 2 Locksmiths: Sophia and Cy. (These two Spies, who knew each other from the start, could roleblock one player each Episode. Their decision also played into something called the Cat and Mouse Game with 2 Citizen Detectives.)
- 1 Protector: Angus. (Each Episode he had to choose one person to make Immune from Exile; they could not be voted out that round. Could only choose each person once.)
6.5 Citizen Roles:
- 1 Messenger: Leticia. (Played a game where she could earn points by predicting future Imprisonments or Exiles. She could spend points by delivering anonymous messages.)
- 1 Medic: Xavier. (A doctor with only 10 'bandages' to use over the entire game; each bandage could Save someone from Imprisonment if they were chosen.)
- 2 Detectives: Desmond and Vince. (The two citizen masons played a Cat and Mouse Game with the 2 Spy Locksmiths. See link for further information.)
- 1 Eugenicist: Guile. (When inactives were eliminated, she got to ask a restricted investigative question.)
- 1 Punisher: Caela. (Each round she could punish a player of her choice with a game restriction or other punishment.)
- 1 Soul Stitcher: Katie. (Each round she could copy or transfer non-investigative role actions to a player of her choice.)

SUMMARIES
Maybe start off things by reading this short and sweet summary about the first five days of the game. I would have never imagined that things would start off so quickly and with a whirlwind of Caela drama that capped off at the very first live Exile chat. It really set the pace of the game haha.
The Shootout Summary - Probably my favorite, a succinct summary of the eponymous event of the game. Lots of pictures! (To read about the conception of the idea check this mini-essay out.)
All about the Spy Separation Twist - Another twist in the game was that the Spies were not told who the others were at the start of the game. Instead, as the game continued, the Spies made individual connections until they all came together as one group in Episode 5. That link describes the conception of the idea - this link mostly has pictures of the Chart plus a few sentences summary.
The Messenger Role - An explanation.
The Election - The Election took place in Episode 3. Each gang of 8-10 people voted for 3 people to represent them. Those would be the only ones voting at Exile 3. Non-voting players would have to lobby those players to cast the vote they wanted. An excellent summary is linked at the top. Here's a story explaining that one of the Council members was kicked off and replaced with another as a reward for the winners of that Episode's chain challenge.
You can read the history of the Council of Nine idea through the 2 previous Spies games at this location here.
Tons of images people made for the game!
Cat and Mouse Game - One set of roles was a 2 vs. 2 Spies VS. Citizens battle. That link summarizes how the unique set of information exchange played out from start to finish.
This essay explains the construction of the idea. Hey I had never wrote up an explanation of role development before and it was lots of fun plus we had a few months downtime.
Three Private Investigators - In Episode 12, three of the best winners from the 3 previous games came back for one Episode to act as non-voting advisors. One of the 3 was the Spy PI, acting in tangent with the Spies to deceive the citizens. All of the PIs had no inside information. They brought an influx of new energy, personality, and excitement to the game. Before they left they wrote a lengthy report on their opinions which you can check out right here.
Theme Teaser! ~ cute story setting up the game.
Punisher / Protector Explanation, Role PMs.
Quick Links / Table of Contents - Explains and directs you to the important boards of Spies 5 amongst the billion of them.
Imprisonment stories! I like all of them, they are short and filled with pictures and sometimes accidentally funny but I guess if I had to pick out a few to direct you towards first I'd go with: this one, that one and, um.... maybe this one. (and this one!)
The Challenge Theme - An explanation of the challenge mini-theme in the game. To try out the Explosion! Challenge and see if you can solve a series of unique puzzles in under 55 minutes, go here and try it out!
The story of Sophia, the first Spy caught. Interesting especially how her character played it.

The Lone Spy - As part of the Spy separation twist where the Spies came to know each other at the start of the game, one poor Spy was destined to be the last one to meet his friends. For five Episodes Angus spent his time all alone, having no idea who his six allies were or their intentions and plans. On Day 16 of 25 of his cage of solitude, he cracked, which can be seen here!
A lot of these are in-jokes but here is Darla's Top 12 roleplayers and a collection of funny quotes.
Check out a few of those links there’s lots of good stuff there.
