My job is to protect people. My role allows me to do that a little bit, but I think there are many more ways to protect people. So I've decided I'm going to use my power in more ways than intended.
I told my team about it last night. There are two possibilities:
1) Out of eight spies, we've caught three on my team already and there are no more. The teams started out 3/11, 3/11, 2/10 Spies. This means I have told a group of citizens about my role and formed a bond of trust that will help us move forward.
2) There's still one more spy left on my team, which means the original split was 4/11 2/11 2/10. A spy now knows my role, as do a bunch of citizens, who have pledged to keep it secret.
I think (1) is more likely, but (2) is still a possibility.
In the case of (1), I think me telling my team my role is a massive advantage. They now know they can totally trust me, and they can protect me a little while I protect them. We will bond stronger than ever and work together to catch spies. They can advise me on who to protect. They can better understand who was killed each episode and why. (Like why Rey survived Imprisonment 2).
In the case of (2), I will probably die in the next Imprisonment or two. Which will let my team know that there is still a Spy amongst them. They seem to think that I'm not a likely Imprisonment, so if I go it will be a surprise and therefore a Spy probably knows my role. The longer I am allowed to live, the more likely it is that my team is clean.
If the Spies are very clever, they could leave me and one spy on my team around for weeks in hopes that they will become trusted. So we'll have the opportunity to not only watch who survives, but who on the team is pulling weight in catching Spies.
This plan is not optimal for my personal survival, but I think it's a fun plan and I think it has a good chance of success. If it "fails" it will still tell my team a very important message--there's probably still a Spy amongst them.
By the way, right now only Ellis, Rey, Gabriela and Jason know my role. I plan to tell Tiberius and not tell Pete right away.
What do you think, Sam?
