OK, let's start off with the business end of things. There are three hundred and seven hairs in that picture for the "little power" competition. I don't want to get the tiebreaker power and reveal that I might be an intellectual threat to anyone, so I'm not posting in the main thread, it just amazes me that people posting their answers haven't considered the "score" might actually be photoshopped. Met two people today, Oswald and Robert. Spoke to each of them for about five minutes, not wanting to draw things out. Robert seems fun. That's it for now...

Gabriela seems like a suspect. Jenya seems like an overenthused citizen or a possible aggressive spy (the worst kind). Paris is good at getting stuff out of people, which would make him a good ally or a bad enemy. And Tiberius is just weird, which could be a cover.
Right now my top suspect is probably Gabriela. Rey seems to be in danger because of his alias rather than any real evidence against him, which could be bad. And obviously I'm paranoid that I might get exiled if I'm too inactive in this group of actives, which also could be very very bad.
More to come.

OK, here's how I'm looking at things right now.
Firstly, my present "mouthpiece" is Rey. After certain failures in previous Spies games that won't, for the benefit of all the newbies, go mentioned here, I'm being a lot more careful about how I choose the person who's going to vocalize my thoughts. I've chosen Rey because, at the moment, he fits the bill: he's active, and he's thinking somewhat along the same lines as I am. To wit:
Over two thirds of the players in Spies 5 are newbs. (That comes straight from YOU, Judge Sam.) That suggests a lot of nice wet-behind-the-ears spies. However, they're spies who've come from other mafia boards in all likelihood. So... not stupid, but also not used to the way things are done here.
In Spies 1 (sorry!) I predicted the spies' actions pretty much correctly across the board, even down to there being one semi-active (or completely inactive, Mercedes was the only person in the entire game I never got to talk to, and that includes the guy who was exiled first because nobody knew who he was) and I should be able to do the same thing here.
For example: I think it quite likely that the spies will look for a weak point and push that one point as much as possible for the first exile, while not all being too much in the forefront of the decision-making process. Let's say, if there are three spies in my team (which I think is likely), one is a pretty outspoken leader, the others are less so.
My top two suspects are GABRIELA and JEYA. Both have been fairly quiet, but Jeya is obviously more able than she's letting on. That could be the mark of a quiet citizen, but something about what she said about Jocelyn doesn't really add up to me. I don't see anything particularly suspicious in Jocelyn's exclamation that she "knew it" when it was announced that the Spies already knew their alignments. Unless it was something she had planned beforehand, it seems to me to be a good double-bluff. And I'd expect more support from Jocelyn (which only seems to be coming from Rey) if she's a spy.
So... either Jocelyn and Rey are both spies, or she's most likely not, regardless of his alignment. And for the moment I'm willing to assume that second part is true.
My next suspect would probably be JASON, but let's see how that one plays out. I've got to go over what he's said again, as some parts of it sounded kinda "off".
And I'd like to have another look at the people on that list I made during the opening chat. Food for thought there.
Just had an interesting conversation with Ariel. I'll have to post that, as well as the chat from last night.

I think Rey is right about one thing. Almathea is a natural backstabber. And probably a spy.
This could really solve my problems about whether to vote for Jaya or Gabriele. How about neither?

I now think Jaya is probably being scapegoated.
Almathea is the real danger. I think. I know, only too well, the dangers of overconfidence... but (sorry for Spies 4 reference here) basically I think she's Angelica mk. 2. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. At least I'll have tried.
A last minute push might be the way to get her out, but how to do it without exposing myself too much? Thus far I've been accepted as a "lurker"... if I take charge here, not so much.
Jocelyn seems to be an almost certain citizen at this point. Rey, I've done a 180 on, I think he's a cit. His case against Almathea is genuine and plausible.
I have it that Jenya has told Alma that she's suspected. I'm also worried that Alma or another spy (Paris or Gabrielle?) will get out of Jenya that I'm targeting her. Still, Alma seems to have other concerns for the time being.
I don't know who's responsible for Ariel, Robert et al messing with Alma, but they may very well have saved my ass in this game.
So far I think my strategy is working well. I've picked up enough suspicion to keep me safe, not enough to get me exiled (I hope), and even if the worst happens and the spies turn it around, I might still survive an exile 1 vote if Ariel sees it that way.

Jaya is a naive cit who doesn't really know what time of day it is.
Gabriela is being called a naive cit, but I'm not convinced.
My top suspects right now are Almathea, Paris, and Gabriela.
I really, really, really hope Ariel isn't a spy.
It's time to get busy with the PMs.

I might add that I'm not half as convinced of Tiberius' innocence as I'm claiming to be, and Jenya is a little suspicious due to her continued suspicions of Jaya. If anyone was framing Jaya, Jenya and Paris are the obvious suspects.
Jason could be shady, especially if Alma is a cit. If Alma is a spy, Jason is pretty safe.
Jason and Rey have both been more public with their suspicions of Alma than I have. Not many people outside of our group know that I exist yet. That's a good position to be in.
None of these people know that I suspect them, unless they've been warned by one of the few people I've discussed them with. You can't keep everything to yourself all the time, unfortunately (well I guess you could, but then nobody would ever vote or chat so it'd be kinda boring).

(1:05:50 AM) Ellis: I think I'm making the best decision I can with the information I have
I think that pretty much summarizes my attitude to this exile... there really isn't much evidence, but enough of it seems to point one way to make this justifiable. There's no convenient inactive about to lynch (apart from Jocelyn, who's not a spy and I hope will turn up or be replaced) and Alma seems to be the best choice in that she's not that helpful when she's active, and her exile will give us plenty of information.
I think I'm on the best team I could possibly be on. Rey is fantastic, Tiberius hangs with 50 Cent, and there's not a single person at the moment that I don't like or get along with pretty well. The trouble is, the other folks like me are stuck with the likes of Yvette and Robert, who may or may not mean well but are certainly not much fun to be around. I'm not sure if the team system makes having someone like that on your team better or worse... I'm happy, though, that the question doesn't really apply to me. Yay!

Exile 1 is just starting. Time to see if Rey and Jason were right.
If we get a spy out, it's Rey's baby, 100%. I don't want, or particularly deserve, any credit for this one. If it wasn't for Rey I wouldn't even have noticed Alma, and I think he's done a superb job.
A little word on how the game's gone so far.
Note: by this time in Spies 4, I had four full pages of conversations, had talked with every single person bar a couple of inactives, was turning slightly insane, and was about to be exiled. That's not a great situation to be in, I think you'll agree.
Now I have less than a quarter of the conversations, have barely spoken to anyone outside of my group except Ariel, am happily chillaxing in the knowledge that I've done my best for this exile whatever the outcome is, and am enjoying myself more than I think I've done in any Spies game since Spies 1.
Also - I love, love, LOVE the "three teams / two exiles" system. It's a fantastic idea and I think it's working brilliantly, there is so much less PRESSURE and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of players who would otherwise have dropped out decide to stay around because of it. It's also our only realistic chance of actually catching a spy in the first round given the setup of "Spies".
Look, even if it's not in this particular form, if you do any more Spies games (and you 100% should, this is brilliant) you should keep the "teams" idea. It makes things so much easier on the players.
So in case you needed it: F__CKING AWESOME JOB SAM!!!

NOTES DURING FIRST EXILE: (2:07:19 AM) Judge Sam: just remember breaks are good very good advice indeed, and advice that I've heeded this time. I really burnt myself out playing "Martha" in Spies 4, and ended up getting the boot for it. This time I've sat back, lurked a little, and taken time to enjoy the experience. It's all the more rich for it. (2:10:19 AM) Judge Sam: So yeah, the Imprisonment is non-live but if you want the dirt as it happens come watch. it'll be a cute little story Why do I get the impression that I'll be psychologically scarred by this? I know your taste in imprisonment stories, as well as ironic foreshadowing, and this combination of the two makes me nervous. (2:11:53 AM) Judge Sam: Gabriela I appreciate your comments however if you could not be nasty in chat thanks :-) (2:12:56 AM) Gabriela: i just dont like wasting time, im old, iduno how much i have OMG this is awesome! (2:13:37 AM) Levi: Sam is a paradox in himself (2:13:41 AM) Levi: He is, yet he isn't (2:13:47 AM) Levi: He is intelligent, yet he is not I think Levi just insulted the host in the worst way possible... (2:18:41 AM) Rey: LOL the priest is here. (2:18:42 AM) Rey: o.O (2:18:50 AM) Boris: the priest scares me Just what is the deal with Callahan anyway? This one's gone completely over my head... (2:18:28 AM) Ellis: Green adds something, red loses something? This is my contribution to the debate about the first blueprint square. Once again, I am invisible, as it's completely ignored, despite it's huge insight. (Well, I'm the only one to consider the colours...) (2:22:12 AM) Levi: So if its like, say, algebra II level, I'll do it They teach algebra as a separate subject now? Or they did when Levi was at school? (2:46:40 AM) Judge Sam: Almathea is a..... (2:46:44 AM) Rey: SPYY (2:46:47 AM) Judge Sam: Spy. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! That's the second time I've seen a spy go down! Only the second time! In four spies games! I'd forgotten how good it felt... (2:51:56 AM) Judge Sam: because those teams are now a distant memory (2:52:06 AM) Judge Sam: You will now be divided into two new teams. Sam, did you even READ my last confessional? About how good our team was and how great it was to be with those guys?! I'm off to bed. FIRST ROUND SPY EXILE RULES!!!

What? What does this even mean? 1) I was completely playing myself, no changes whatsoever. It was because of Martha, who was this insanely fantastic character but didn't fit the game at all. Ellis was supposed to be completely amorphous. The only character note I gave him at all was that he'd be constantly eating (as an excuse for when he just sat back and watched, like in the opening chat). I used that one often, especially at the beginning of the game. The funniest thing about that was that after a few days of every single Ellis chat somehow involving food, everyone else who talked to him starting eating as well, more and more often as the game went on, until he got imprisoned... it was hilarious. 2) Tibby was so obviously Trey is what it means. Also, in one of the Future challenges, we had to guess the price of a hat (which bizarrely was exactly one hundred thousandth of the maximum wage in my "salary" challenge, who would've thought THAT would happen?) and one of Tibby's guesses was "$.50" - which convinced me completely that he was Trey. 3) Yeah, it was fun. Actually I over-rated myself there... it was the second time in FIVE spies games, since Spies 6 was technically my fifth (although Martha got exiled so early that it felt like only the fourth!)
