...And it's not just because I was wrong about who'd be imprisoned. (Well, that too, but there's another reason.)
All the cits will probably disagree with me here, but hell, it's not like I ever listened to any of you while I was in the game (or vice versa). So bear with me here.
So I honestly think Jenya could make the Spies hall of fame, easily. She's played this game spot-on right up until the moment Boris was exiled. At which point she's made a mistake so simple, yet so catastrophically bad, that it's become pretty obvious that she's going to be exiled on pretty much the basis of that one thing alone.
I HATE that. I seriously do. I hate that while the citizens have a huge amount of leeway, one small but significant mistake by a spy could easily spell their doom, no matter how well they've played up until that point. It's one of the two things I think are fundamental flaws in this game - the other being that the strong players often seem to get exiled / imprisoned earliest while the relative chaff is left floating about at the end. And unfortunately both are unavoidable in this type of game.
All the same, it leaves me swearing out loud when stuff like this happens. It's a horrible way to lose. And worst of all, not only has Jenya lost the game for herself, she's probably lost it for her fellow spies as well. All thanks to one simple but deadly slip.
FUCK THAT. If you're going to root for the citizens, let 'em win because they outplayed the spies, like Karl and Rodney in Spies 2 or Otto and Delilah in Spies 5. Don't "hope" that shit like this happens. Because it really, really shouldn't.
