Y'know, I've just realised it was Kumar, not Rold, that Kal Penn played in "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"... Any chance of opening the time capsule up for a short while and correcting that one?

Is there a reason you refuse to participate in my activities?

Eh? Please tell me that was sarcasm. "So what should you write in your time capsule? Anything you like! I prefer your deepest darkest secrets, but cake recipes work too." OK, it's not quite cake, but...

That was a joke that everybody else got except for you apparently. =)
Please provide an actual time capsule message ASAP, following the intent of the activity by writing a message of at least two paragraphs that you would like to be revealed in the future.

No, I get the joke, I just don't think that you do. You realise that the majority of that message was referencing things that had already happened in this game, right? The donkey-burger thing, Tiberius' hatred of Superman, one of the male characters (I can't remember who but I think Robert) making fun of Yvette for her "feminazi" thing, etc? I didn't want to write something strategic (again, going for the Delilah / Rodney idea here) but at the same time I wanted to write something obviously relevant to the game. That was it. And since I didn't put anything in the "advice" thread, I wanted to go all-out on this one. If you're worried about me giving my alias away, well damn, it's not like I've taken any great pains to disguise it this time anyway. But besides that, I think it's pretty certain that by imprisonment nine, at least one of the following two things will have happened: 1) penalties will have been removed, and 2) I'll be dead. Probably both. Like I said before, I don't want to take the p-ss. This was a joke (obviously) but it wasn't meant to be disrespectful. I'll come up with something and post it a bit later on.

ok, this is Ellis. I'm writing my thoughts just after Yvette has been exiled and proven to be a citizen. I voted Yvette because of things I'd been told by people I trusted, and now I'm reconsidering trusting them because of it. The people I thought might be spies together are accusing each other, and the people I thought were cleared are acting more and more suspiciously. I don't know what's going on.
If I'm still alive it'll be because I trusted a spy, or because they don't see me as a threat. Right now I'm thinking both. I've done nothing but follow bandwagons so far, and it's got rid of one spy, one traitor, and one citizen. The way things look right now, I can't see another spy going this exile. I think we need leadership and for the citizens to work together, but at this point everyone's too busy blaming each other for what happened.
This is the first time I've really felt that the spies are working together effectively. And it's got me very worried that our streak of successful exiles - three out of four before Yvette - might have come to a close.
I hope I'm wrong.
[edited to bold the bit I actually want to be in the time capsule]

thanks. could you explain your original time capsule entry for me a little more? I'm not familiar with some of the in-jokes. To me, I see two really long recipes (which appear to be copy/pasted, I think that's a fair assumption), then a 'one-act play' which I also guessed was copy/pasted. That may not be true though now that I think about it. Pair that with your refusal to participate in the last activity. And with your historical refusal to participate fully in activities (I could be totally wrong on that part my memory is hazy but I think throughout the games you might have not done activities, I seem to remember giving you self-votes for not completing an activity a long time ago =P), you can understand why I think that you just copy/pasted random junk and didn't participate lol. if you spent what appears to be a lot of time actually typing that up with lots of jokes relevant to the game I apologize!

Sam, I'll tell you straight out that NONE of it is copied and pasted. Quite the contrary, I spent a long time on that just because I took a penalty last time, lol. The chilli recipe is a basic chilli recipe with a few touches that I've added myself through my years of making chilli! The ass-burgers are also my own recipe (and very tasty, everyone always tries to add egg and stuff to hamburgers when if you use decent mince and lots of pepper they don't need it) and of course the one-act play is completely my own writing. And yes, pretty much all of it apart from the ingredient lists reference some in-joke or other that someone's said. The "females not allowed" thing is pretty much a direct quote of Robert's reaction to the Yvette "feminazi" thing for example. I don't think I've had any penalties for refusing to participate in activities before... once or twice I've asked for a penalty for not posting confessionals in time because I didn't want to appear too active, but I can't ever recall this being because I haven't completed an activity.

Weird misunderstandings suck. But hopefully me and Sam are back to being best buddies again, in our usual fashion: Me = Sam = I would like to clear my name on one thing... I've checked over my Spies history and am certain that I have never once, until the "Suggestions" activity, taken a penalty for not completing an activity in ANY Spies game. I've taken two penalties deliberately for not posting conversations when I actually had posted conversations, and I took a penalty for the "suggestions" activity when in fact I actually had completed a suggestion but not posted it publicly. And of course I completely screwed up the exile vote in round 4 through my usual thick-headedness. And that's ALL! FTR I've also never failed to attend any exile in any Spies game until Yvette's; and that also was strategy, an effort to look less active than I was. Considering the only two players I think have maintained a perfect exile-attendance record in more than three Spies games were myself and DC (I thought Trey / Jason as well, but I think he missed at least one as Johan in Spies 4 when he used basically the same tactics as I did in Spies 6), I'm not too worried about it!

1. Your time capsule entry went over everyone's heads, I think. Even looking at it now I don't really see the jokes. I would recommend next time you try using 950% fewer words to get the jokes across. 2. I think Sam is referring to this: spies4.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sechid024264&action=display&thread=453Not that he's right - you've always been very active and agreeable. You just had an issue doing 1 part of 1 game.

For all I've known I would have put something like a complete joke had I been a vanilla cit still in the game. After all, what could I have said?

You just had an issue doing 1 part of 1 game. Hmmmmmm... the activity in Spies 4 was entirely optional, and only for citizens who'd already left the game. I gave my reasons for opting out and Sam addressed them (very well I thought). I agree he might have been thinking of this possibly, but it didn't get me any penalties. As for the time capsule entry... DC and Mei Yun wouldn't get most of the jokes since they weren't at the relevant AIM conversations. People like Rey and Tibby would, and it was specifically aimed at them. The ass-burger thing for example, that came up in perhaps the second or third chat we'd ever had as a team.
