1. [insert cit name here] is more suspicious.
2. They've been helping the team.
3. They didn't vote for [cit].
4. We can exile them tomorrow. Let's get [cit] this time.
I obviously need help with these. Pretty feeble so far.

This is a good thread, but we also have to be careful.
If, for instance, I am appearing very suspicious, it might not be a bad idea for one of us to attack me, and make it obvious that we are on opposing viewpoints. It could also cause one of our other spies to look more pro-town at a spy's expense.
I'm not saying we should try to lynch each other, but if we see a lost cause, sometimes it's best to make the best of it and take advantage of the scenario.
Otherwise, 1. and 2. are really good reasons, backed up with evidence. 3. is possible, but needs a really strong argument with it, and wouldn't really work early in the game. 4. is a bad reason. 1. is a much better and passable reason than 4.
Also, don't go out protecting every spy when he or she gets suspicion from the town. It will make you look suspicious, and if you're found out, they'll look at everybody you protected publicly, and cast suspicion on them. This could also be a double-edged sword against the town. If one of us protects a townie, and that spy is later found to be a spy, that townie may look much more suspicious by association.
We'll be able to discuss with each other some various reasons to protect a fellow spy, if we both happen to be on at the same time.
Some other things we could argue are:
- Your reasons for voting [suspect] are (unfounded)/(don't make any sense). - You are reaching for an excuse to exile [suspect] - Look for any inconsistencies in what the player has said, and point them out, point out flaws in his/her logic.

Thanks, Donald. I'm trying to get these ideas firmly in my head now. My biggest fear is that I will panic and say something stupid.

Don't let yourself get overanxious over anything, this is good to be thinking about all these ideas and tactics early. Just remember that you don't need to answer everybody immediately, so go ahead and take the time to think a reply over before saying anything. If you're in an AIM conversation, and anybody asks why you're taking so long to respond, you could always come up with a simple excuse like "sorry, talking to a friend on aim" "phone call" "somethin about email".
I don't know how focused everybody else will be when they're on these boards, but I tend to multitask often, and naturally don't always give a prompt reply to people.

I think if one of the spies comes up; we should look through citizen database and the alliances etc and see which ones of us should be anti-Spy that round
the ones who aren't against that spy should divide into - devil's advocate and undecided
devil's advocate also suspects the spy but challenges some evidence, and presents someone more suspicious. the DA should swing their close allies too
undecided; stays largely to AIM; does not post opinions too much on the burg for all to see; they discuss among their close friends how they are undecided but subtly say that part of your undecision lies in Devil's Advocate compelling argument AND/OR some early game action that the spy suspect did that made you think they looked cit AND/OR bringing up a quote from one of our "pretend citizen AIM sessions".
if more than one of us spies is in the "undecided" category; we could have split votes further so that one undecided votes for the spy and the other against but convincingly sways others out
we should target citizens who don't work hard to look for spies
