The challenge instructions were explained at around 8:45 PM CDT. After learning of the challenge, several players bowed out, believing they wouldn't be able to win the challenge.
8:51 PM - The following players bowed out: Almathea, Jocelyn, Callahan, Ellis, Gabriela, William, and Jenya.
The challenge began at 8:51:36 PM CDT. Recall that you had to write a line of chat at least every 4 minutes or your were eliminated.
8:56 PM - Boris, Roxy, and Tiberius are eliminated.
8:58 PM - Jason was eliminated.
9:05 PM - Ed was eliminated.
9:10 PM - Paris was eliminated.
It is now 20 minutes into the challenge and we have 10 serious competitors vying for the chance to become the Union Organizer. They are:
A half hour passes, and all 10 remain in the competition, chatting to each other jovially.
9:36 PM - Pete bows out of the chat and is eliminated.
9:47 PM - Georgia has internet problems, exits the chat, and comes back, missing the time limit by just 5 seconds. She is eliminated.
9:51 PM - Levi leaves the chat. At the same time, Yvette has internet problems which cause her to be eliminated from the game.
We've hit the one hour mark and six competitors remain strong:
Iris, Rey, Mei Yun, Ariel, Faith, and Jaya
Another hour passes. No one drops out. We are now two hours into the competition...
11:08 PM - Faith accidentally misses her 4 minute chat limit mark and is eliminated.
11:34 PM - Iris accidentally misses her 4 minute chat limit mark and is eliminated.
Thirty minutes later we fly by the 3 hour mark and four remain.
The 4 hour mark flies by as well as all four competitors remain in it to win it.
12:58 AM - Jaya leaves voluntarily and is eliminated.
Time stretches on, excruciating hour by excruciating hour, exhausting minute by exhausting minute, agonizing second by agonizing second, as the players continue to type a line in chat every 4 minutes to remain in the game. By this point though the chatter has mostly stopped, with some players just typing gibberish and hitting enter to satisfy the 4 minute requirement. Some other Spies 6 players drop in and say hi and chit-chat.
4 minutes sounds like a long time, but when you are constantly panicked that you may miss the deadline, and are thinking about how much longer you have to go constantly, the stress starts to eat at you after awhile.
For third place the stress was about to wear one of them out...
1:43 AM - Rey falls asleep at his computer and is eliminated.
There are now two competitors left: Mei Yun and Ariel.
VS.
As the fifth hour of the competition passes, neither seems willing to concede.
Each has had a different strategy to remain in the game. Ariel has been pretty much chatting with everyone constantly, playing mini-mafia games, talking about random things, and talking about strategies. She hasn't really gotten close to being eliminated and has been keeping track of the others' times.
Mei Yun took a different track. Rarely saying anything coherent, she would drop in the chat and say something like fssdf or lkjlkj at approximately the 3.5 minute mark. She had been doing so for the last 3 hours and the tactic has been working for her so far.
Hour 6 rolls by.....
2:56 AM - Mei Yun's internet disconnects and she leaves the chat room. She has 4 minutes to re-enter.
2:58 AM - Ariel's internet disconnects and she leaves the chat room. She has 4 minutes to re-enter.
2:59 AM - Ariel rejoins the chat room.
3:00 AM - Mei Yun rejoins the chat room with 30 seconds to spare.
The standoff continues past hour six...

and into hour seven. It is now 4:00 AM CDT and it appears neither Ariel nor Mei Yun is willing to give up.

And we should all remember that this is just a silly game and to pace ourselves! Spies is a marathon, not a sprint, and it is impossible for anyone to keep up this level of activity for two months daily. We will have short breaks during the game but remember also to pace yourselves. Otherwise you will go crazy. 
) This is a one-of-a-kind thing and other the few other challenges there are will be more fun-oriented.
